Proposal in this regard has been moved by Governor of Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, February 5, 2020: With latest advancement in urbanization cities are now becoming more adaptable to pet needs. In recent development in this direction Chandigarh is all set to get a dog park. This will be the first pet park in north India. The proposal in this regards was moved by VP Singh Badnore, the administrator of Chandigarh and the Governor of Punjab. Badnore had reportedly asked the civic body authority to work on this project.
According to the Chandigarh municipal corporation, the proposed dog park has been planned to be set-up in the southern part of Chandigarh. For now, the area in Sector 43 in the city has been tentatively chosen for this project. An area of about 1.5 acres in Sector 43 is being examined, and other modalities are being finalised.
A senior official of the municipal corporation told the press that on the basis of the meetings held between the municipal officials, the dog park will be open only to the vaccinated pet dogs of Chandigarh after furnishing due records of vaccination. The official also revealed that the dog park will provide different facilities like vaccination to the canine visitors as well as behavioural change activities. People will also be offered the facility of dog adoption.
